More waiting
I have recently ordered some more shirts from a new supplier. They should be here within a week I would hope. I am certain that this new supplier will work out, if the sizes on the shirts are good. I have heard many good things about them. I have also checked on the legal responsiblities of the company. I just need to register my "trade name," and get a sales-tax liscence and I'll be in good shape.

The great American Dis-appointment
Things are not going as well as planned. I have yet to hear back from either manufacturer of US made clothing. I realize that perhaps I should be contacting a wholesaler to obtain the goods, but you would think that they would send me a message giving me the name of one or something. I am beginning to see why people buy things from China.
I had a similar experience when I was trying to get a job. People would tell me they would call me back to let me know either way, but I would never hear anything. I don't know if it's dishonesty or laziness, but it really makes a person think about how many jobs there would be available if we would just fire the people who aren't any good at their jobs. I would say that it would free up apx. 50% of all HR jobs. Honestly, if you are representing the company to the outside world and you can't spell or take the time to proofread, then you don't deserve your job. That's how I feel these days anyway. I wish that we could return to a better time. Times have always been hard, but I think we used to look at others with more respect and understanding than we do now. (racism excluded)
America, where did we go wrong?
In other news, I am continuing to make new designs. I hope to be ready to go into print early next year. I am trying to get my wife on board this project. I'm sure that we need a website and better publicity than I am going to be willing to do, and I need her "creative flare."

T-shirt Progress
I received the shirts that I ordered last night. I was really pleased with how fast they arrived, and am also pleased with the quality and coloring. In my previous post I told you how I have really bad luck when purchasing things, and this case is just as true as any other. I ordered 2 female shirts (large), and received 1 XL shirt instead. It is not as disappointing as it would be to a person who usually didn't have that sort of thing happen to them. I am also disappointed that the manufacturer has still not answered my requests for retailing information. I think I am going to use part of today to find a new source company.
In other news. I had always wanted to try a reel mower, and recently came in procession of one. I completely understand why people stopped using them. (They do require quite a bit more effort to use than a power mower.) However, I really like it. It provides a clean looking cut with no "bunny" windrows. My wife thinks I'm crazy, as do the neighbors I'm sure. Sometimes though, different is better, and I have no problem with my tent that I've pitched outside the box.
Tomorrow I hope to have information on a new supplier and very soon I hope to speak with a screen printer about making a test lot.
To all of my brothers and sisters who are protesting, stay strong. Whether you are right or wrong is yet to be seen, but it is people like you who make Democracy work, and keep the country honest.

The Search for a Supplier
Today I emailed a potential supplier of t-shirts, it was actually the second time that I emailed them. I'm not sure why, but I have an uncanny ability to receive bad service. I always get the Bagger at the grocery store that puts the frozen foods in with the bananas. I always get the new product that has some sort of defect, and I always get a phone representative who apparently doesn't realize I speak English. That is, they never understand what I'm saying.
I digress, I have ordered some shirts yesterday to test out. My wife, Dad, and I are going to wear them for a couple of months and see how they wear. Again, I want our shirts to be all about quality. They should be here in a week or so. However, if the company never gets back with me, maybe I will have to choose a different brand.
I don't think that I am the only one who is feeling political unrest these days. To be honest I've never voted because I didn't think that either Democrats or Republicans represented what I believed. So today, I looked into the American Independent Party. I don't want to say anything offensive so I will simply say that they don't represent how I feel either. If any of you ever get a chance get on their website and read what they are about, I suggest you do. To me they seem extreme. FYI, I don't like the Democrats or Republicans because the only competition they act like they have is each other.
I also discovered something amazing today. We are not the first "Star Spangled Clothing Co"... Hopefully we do better than they did.
Stay strong my fellow patriots

The Beginings
I think that I can speak for everyone who has tried to get a job recently that it is almost impossible.
Before the recession I had a fairly good job, but I wasn't fully satisfied with my potential. I decided to return to college. To get that I took a large demotion and changed to part time. I decided to pursue an accounting degree (to me it just seemed like a really versatile business degree.) With one year to go, and the recession in full swing, the company I was working for decided to make the first round of layoffs. On the list for termination was every part-time employee. I had been with the company for 3 years but it was all gone in a day.
I used my savings to finish college. I refused to accept un-employment on the principal that it was for people who needed it. (I don't regret that decision.) I finished with a 3.5 something GPA, and proceeded to look for work. I looked everywhere, and for all sorts of jobs. Most of the time they wouldn't even email me to let me know that I wasn't hired. From graduation, I looked for work for over a year. I finally got hired as a delivery driver for a home improvement warehouse. I stayed there for a year before I was offered a partnership in my parents house-rental business.
I took this new job with much joy. I could set my own hours and do the work that I find very fulfilling, Carpentry.
While this new job has been my haven in the storm that his enveloped this nation, I couldn't stop thinking about how bad it was for everyone else, because my wife was still looking for a good place to work. There is not a single cause that has brought us to our current state. There is not a single person to point at and blame. However, no one will argue that the system is not broken.
To this claim, I am calling out to my brothers, my fellow countrymen/women. Now more than ever we need to take pride in this nation. We need to support our neighbors and brothers and sisters. We need work; our nation needs work. More specifically, we need good jobs. We don't need to be telemarketers or fast food workers, we need high pay and benefits. We need manufacturing jobs. I've worked in manufacturing, to be honest I didn't like it when I worked there, but it was the best paying place to work in the region.
To be a great nation again, we have to make goods and sell them to the world. Brothers and sisters, we cannot compete with China on price, but dollar for dollar, we can make some of the best goods on the market here. We can compete on quality.
This blog will be a testament to either the right way to market the USA, or a failure to communicate my purpose.
My wife and I are designing shirts that are manufactured and printed here in the USA. They are going to be high-quality shirts at a reasonable price, that will help put Americans to work.
The theme will be patriotic, in a contemporary fashion. That is to say, we are going to try to make it "cool" to be American again. The hope is that people will once again take pride in this country.
In essence, I am declaring war on companies who claim to be patriotic but import everything from China.
